How does wine help prevent heart disease?

Wine Can Help Prevent Heart Disease

Several years ago, it became known that drinking wine actually could not only be enjoyable but could be beneficial to the prevention of heart disease.

As broadcast on "60 Minutes", independent studies from America and France resulted in scientific research determining why middle-aged Frenchmen had a substantially lower rate of heart attacks and coronary artery disease than their American counterparts.

The research concluded that the determining factor was the larger quantity of red wine consumed by Frenchmen compared to lower quantities of red wine consumed by the Americans.

Red wine contains resveratol which helps remove plague from the arteries of the heart. Recent reports have shown that one of those healthful "ingredients" in red wine, a substance called resveratol, has shown promise in actually extending life spans.
